This Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ for short) list attempts to
answer general questions about the
VLA; a second FAQ
that deals with more specific questions about radio astronomy
and the role the NRAO plays in it is
also available.
Where can I find high resolution photographs of the VLA?
Images of all our telescopes can be found in the
image gallery.
If you want images made by those telescopes, do the search at the
bottom of the page.
What is the closest airport to the VLA?
The nearest airport serving commercial flights is the Albuquerque
International Sunport. It is about a two hour drive to the VLA from
there.
When are you going to move antennas?
Our configuration change schedule is
here
but the dates
are approximate as the moves are weather dependent. We also move
antennas in and out of the Antenna Assembly Building for maintenance,
but those moves depend on maintenance and repair schedules and aren't
scheduled in advance.
Where can I get a copy of the VLA video?
These and other NRAO merchandise are available at the
VLA Gift Shop in DVD and VHS form.
How can I get a job at the VLA?
See our
Careers page.
I'm a professional photographer and want to take
some photographs from the center of the array. What do I need to do?
First, read our
Guidelines for Commercial Photography and
Filming the VLA
then contact our
public information officer at 575-835-7000.
